Import several images into Microsoft’s Image Composite Editor software and it will stitch the images together into a good looking panorama. That is, in a nutshell, the functionality you can expect to get from Microsoft Image Composite Editor (ICE for short). Go get it and use it to create panoramas!

Microsoft Image Composite Editor works with 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows. Any version from Windows XP up to Windows 8. To get the application up and running on a PC powered by any of these Windows editions you will have to go through a standard installation process that will take very little of your time.

Microsoft ICE’s interface is divided into two panels. The one at the top presents the panorama you’re working on. The one at the bottom presents several settings: camera motion options, crop options, export options. Just like with the installation process, it will take very little time to figure out the interface.

From a functionality point of view, you can expect to get the following from Microsoft ICE: open multiple images and stitch them into a panorama; support for lots of image formats is provided; create a new panorama, a new structured panorama, or a new video panorama (stitch directly from a video); multiple camera motion options; export the panorama to the disk (multiple output formats are supported); publish the panorama to the web.

Microsoft Image Composite Editor is provided free of charge and without official support. If you need help, you can check out the Microsoft ICE forum which is monitored by the developers and provides community-based support.

Microsoft offers a free and easy to use tool that you can use to create panoramas: Microsoft Image Composite Editor.

Pros

32 and 64-bit Windows editions are supported, any edition from XP to 8; installing Microsoft Image Composite Editor takes little time and effort. Figuring out the interface also takes little time and effort. Lots of image formats are supported. Create a new panorama, a new structured panorama, or a new video panorama. Microsoft ICE is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
